After a B minor Mass and a programme of secular and sacred Cantatas conducted by William Christie, Les Arts Florissants pursue their exploration of the music of the Cantor of Leipzig. It is now Paul Agnew’s turn to engage the “Arts Flo” style to serve this repertory, with a selection of motets by Johan Sebastian Bach, but also his relative Johann Christoph and their contemporary Johann Kuhnau. Passionate and a specialist in this repertory – which he has himself sung on numerous occasions – the Associate Musical Director and Associate Conductor of Les Arts Florissants will inspire the continuo and 7 singers by the enthusiasm and attention to detail which form part of his character. An opportunity to discover just what a British musician, familiar with the French and Italian schools, can bring to the great summits of German art!
