Le Jardin des Voix

Over the past 20 years, the Jardin des Voix has established itself as an exceptional nursery of talent, which has allowed the emergence of a new generation of baroque singers now present on the greatest international stages.

The Arts Florissants’ Academy for young singers

Founded in 2002 and directed by William Christie and Paul Agnew, Le Jardin des Voix welcomes young classical singers who are just starting out in their careers. After three weeks’ intensive training, the finalists perform a concert that afterwards tours the globe. These laureates go on to have international careers in the world’s most prestigious concert halls, as well as becoming regular partners of Les Arts Florissants.

William Christie, Co-Musical Director and Founder of Les Arts Florissants
"Le Jardin des Voix has given me the joy of seeing new generations of singers emerge as passionate interpreters and advocates of the Baroque repertoire. Many now perform regularly, in concert or in opera houses, alongside the most experienced specialists in this music."
Paul Agnew, Co-Musical Director of Les Arts Florissants
"One of the key words in the Jardin des Voix approach is experience: we bring together singers with little experience and professionals who have plenty of experience in a wide variety of fields."

An unimissable experience

Xavier Sabata, countertenor, Spain - 2nd edition (2005)
"This experience not only marked the beginning of my career internationally, not only immersed me in a extraordinary disciplined way of working but also planted in me the joy and the fun for this job."
Katherine Watson, soprano, UK - 4th edition (2009)
« Auditioning for the Jardin des Voix was a life changing moment. The programme was so much more than a (brilliant) platform from which to enter the world of baroque music. It infused me with a passion for the repertoire and gave me the tools to interpret and explore it further. »
Zachary Wilder, tenor, USA - 6th edition (2013)
"Le Jardin des Voix was a transformative experience for me, not only as an opportunity to be introduced to audiences across Europe and the US with the legendary Les Arts Florissants, but more importantly it allowed me to tap into an amazing fount of knowledge."
Lea Desandre, mezzo-soprano, France-Italy - 7th edition (2015)
"The Jardin des Voix is an exceptional and out-of-the-ordinary experience, which has been a founding factor in my career. (...) For me, it is the best school, the school of the musician's life, and to be part of this garden is also to enter a family which today is fundamental and without which I would not see myself living."
James Way, ténor, UK - 8e édition (2017)
"The programme has acted as a wonderful springboard for my career and gave me important first-time opportunities in some great concert halls."
Eva Zaïcik, mezzo-soprano, France - 8th edition (2017)
"For me, the Jardin des Voix has been an incredible opportunity to work with William Christie and Paul Agnew and to have the chance to sing in extraordinary venues around the world."
