A new garden
At the Quartier des Artistes—the Fondation Les Arts Florissants – William Christie’s arts and culture campus—a new outdoor area is being created: the garden at the Maison Polycarpe, designed and realised in partnership with the Maison Familiale Horticole in Mareuil. The earthwork is now complete and will be followed by masonry work (building the stairs and walls), after which the garden will begin to be planted. The public will be able to discover this new site sometime around mid-June!
After obtaining a new building permit, the renovation work has resumed. The tasks ahead: the masonry trim and finishing, electricity, heated wood flooring, plumbing, etc. La Grange will be ready to serve as a rehearsal space by the next summer festival!
Maison In Terra Pax
Thanks to the support of a generous sponsor, this property including land along the Smagne river and farm buildings (some in a state of abandon) has been acquired by the Fondation. Major asbestos-removal and demolition work will begin in mid-May, ultimately not only increasing the accommodation capacity of the Arts Florissants arts and culture campus, but also allowing for the installation of a group kitchen and enhancing this whole section of the village of Thiré.
