Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and its artistic director Ed Wubbe will particpate in the festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie which will take place in Thiré (Vendée region of France) from August 22 to August 29, 2015.
Scapino Ballet Rotterdam has already collaborated with Les Arts Florissants for the creation of Les Fêtes vénitiennes (Campra) at the Opéra Comique, staged by Robert Carsen.
Scapino Ballet will therefore meet again with Les Arts Florissants on August 22 and August 23 for the adaptation of Les Fêtes vénitiennes on the Reflecting Pool during the festival in William Christie's gardens.
Scapino Ballet will also participate in the Promenades musicales with excerpts from Pearl, a Baroque ballet choreographed by Ed Wubbe. This intoxicating choreography to virtuoso dance music by composers such as Vivaldi exudes the heady, theatrical mood of the Baroque and is driven by the tempo and dynamism of now. Romance, resplendence and sumptuousness, seduction, decadence and decay are the ingredients that Wubbe, and his full complement of dancers, invoke in bringing Pearl to life. Pearl, which was one of the biggest box office dance hits in The Netherlands, will be prensented to the public in the gardens during the afternoons and accompagnied by musicians of Les Arts Florissants
