Strategically placed around the place de la fontaine in Thiré, near to the gardens of the Bâtiment and to the church, the Artists’ Quarter represents an entry point into the village and a unique opportunity to highlight the local heritage and to create an accommodation centre for young musicians, landscape gardeners, gardeners and heritage students.
Thanks to the support of sponsors, in 2013 Les Arts Florissants launched a programme of acquisition and renovation of houses whose vocation would be to be made available as residences and work places as well as the admission of the public. The work is being carried out in the respect of local architecture, using traditional techniques and materials. Each house retains its autonomy thus enabling the campus to be adjusted depending on the type of event.
The Artists’ Quarter has already enabled the increase of its accommodation capacity for artists and students and the different protagonists and to offer the very best working conditions, with everything being close by to the different concert venues (church and gardens) in a few minutes on foot.
The Artists’ Quarter, still undergoing development, now serves as a rear home base not only for the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, but also the Spring Festival and the Academy of the Jardin des Voix. Residencies for landscape gardeners, gardeners and heritage specialists are developed throughout the year.
The campus is becoming not only a centre of vitality, but also a forum of exchanges and of conviviality between inhabitants, festival goers and occasional visitors.
